Challenge: How can I incorporate more RED without it being overwhelming?

Thank you, Misti at Studio M Design and Decorating, for inspiring this week's challenge! In honor of Valentine's Day, Misti posted lovely pictures and ideas about balancing your space with red.

Isn't it yummy? I, too, enjoy red. To me it says, "Come on in and make yourself comfortable." I especially love the idea of mixing in a little orange with the red. I'm trying to do that in my Living Room, but Hubby doesn't get it. Yet.

So......I'll spend some time this week pondering, trying things out, and looking for additional ways to spread some red cheer around my home.

JOIN ME! I'd love to hear your ideas!!

Great post! I too love red, it's my favorite color. I try to use it in accents in every room, but it is the predominant accent in my kitchen and family room. Throw pillows, candles, books and old metal food signs are all included in red.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog and becoming a follower! I hope you see you back soon!

I think the splash of the red draperies would work very well at the windows. And new pillows, red this time. A small red vase with scented sticks that we saw last week.

Ooh, I'm going to put a red candle in my dining room, interspersed with my plants. And yes, those scented sticks will work there, too. I'll post in a few days. Thanks, Kim and Betty/Mom!

Adding red is a great idea...and one I have used in my real home and my mini homes. Be it a candle, pillow, lamp shade (shades of red or dark burgandy), picture (mat or in the picture itself). Warmth...yes, that is what red tends to convey - some of that country french feel. Oh...another idea for accent is a throw - blanket or similar.
